Yes! Home schools and private schools can participate. The Illinois Invention Convention is open to ALL students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 in the state of Illinois.
Now for the fine print - the number of students a school can send to the regional competition will depend on the total number of schools and students that register and participate. Currently, we expect that number to be around 1 for every 15 participants. That means that if you do not have at least 15 participants, you may not qualify to send a representative to the state level. Therefore, we strongly recommend that individual home schools or small non-traditional schools team up with others in their region to hold their local competition.
The program is available to all, regardless, but we would hate for your students to miss out on the regional competition.
